On 2 October 2025, The Box Soho became the beating heart of British dental innovation as Boxly revealed its AI Receptionist in a spectacular celebration of creativity, technology and connection that left guests inspired and energised.

Among those filling the venue were many of the “who’s who” in UK dentistry, drawn into an electric atmosphere of high-energy music, Champagne and conversation. The event buzzed with anticipation as attendees networked, mingled and captured the moment at the Instagrammable “Unbox the Future” wall before taking their seats near the centre stage.

The Box Soho is no ordinary venue with its three-level interior, deep red velvet furnishings, mirrored walls and antique booths, creating an atmosphere of theatrical intimacy. It was the perfect backdrop for an evening that set out to reimagine what dental technology can offer.

As the room filled, the sound of clinking glasses and upbeat music set the tone for the night ahead. Industry leaders, entrepreneurs and clinicians gathered beneath the warm glow of chandeliers while futuristic performers and creative lighting heightened the sense of theatre.

Every detail had been considered, and it was clear that this was not just another corporate event but rather a celebration of imagination and ambition.

Jason Bradbury brings the future to life

The evening officially opened with Jason Bradbury, one of the most recognisable technology presenters and former host of The Gadget Show. Bursting with energy and humour, Jason took to the stage and quickly established a genuine connection with the audience.

He began by reflecting on the evolution of technology, moving seamlessly from Clive Sinclair’s ZX80 computer to self-driving cars and 3D printing. Through stories that blended nostalgia with vision, he illustrated how every technological leap builds upon the last. His DeLorean-inspired anecdotes had the audience laughing, while his insights into exponential growth and the coming age of artificial intelligence gave them plenty to think about.

“AI is everywhere,” Jason said, “but the best technology is the kind that understands people.” The line captured both the humour and humanity of his keynote and set the perfect tone for what was to follow.

The Boxly story: from a simple idea to a global vision

As the applause gave way to anticipation, a short film began to play. It told the story of how three entrepreneurs set out with what they once described as a “silly idea” and ended up creating one of the most talked-about technologies in modern dentistry.

Elliot Hamilton, John King and Adam Smith are three individuals whose blend of technical expertise, creativity and determination has shaped the company’s rapid rise. What began as an experiment in the golf and leisure sector evolved into a sophisticated dental communication platform after the team recognised that dental practices faced the same challenges: too many systems, too little time and too much administrative pressure.

This led seamlessly into a fireside chat with the three visionary founders, who spoke candidly about the highs and lows of their journey. The conversation highlighted the company’s ethos, ambition and commitment to creating technology that supports, rather than replaces, people. Each founder brought their own flair and perspective, leaving the audience inspired about AI’s role in transforming patient communication and reducing administrative burdens in dental practices.

“The first time a client cancelled because we had generated too many leads to handle, we knew we were solving the only part of the problem,” recalled Adam. “That was the point when Boxly truly began.”

The conversation revealed their humour, humility and respect for the dental community that had helped shape their product. “We built Boxly by listening,” said John. “The real expertise comes from the reception teams, treatment co-ordinators and clinicians who told us exactly what they needed. Everything we have created has come from that feedback.”

Introducing the AI Receptionist

The atmosphere reached a new level of anticipation as the screen lit up once more for the reveal of Boxly’s AI Receptionist.

The premiere video brought the technology to life through the voice of a confident, intelligent digital assistant who could manage patient enquiries, schedule appointments directly from a practice diary, and follow up automatically across multiple channels such as WhatsApp, email and social media.

It was clear that the innovation was not a replacement for people but rather a support system designed to make working lives easier. The room erupted with applause.

Balancing AI and humanity

Throughout the event, Elliot, John and Adam returned to a recurring theme: the importance of empathy in technology.

Put simply by John: “There is a lot of hype around AI, but our focus has always been on solving real problems. We use AI to make life easier for people, not to replace them.”

Elliot added, “The biggest challenge is maintaining humanity all the way through. The patient must always feel cared for, not processed. That is our measure of success.”

The founders’ authenticity and humour shone through, reinforcing the genuine passion that has defined Boxly’s journey. They spoke with gratitude about their colleagues and families, acknowledging the long hours and collaborative spirit that had made the launch possible.

They also extended heartfelt thanks to Anushika and Rianna of Damira Dental Studios, whose team had helped shape and test the AI Receptionist in its final stages. The founders described the partnership as instrumental in ensuring the technology met the practical needs of dental professionals.

Celebration and connection

With the formalities complete, the celebrations began in earnest. The music rose again, cocktails were served, and the atmosphere shifted from awe to exhilaration. Performers weaved through the crowd, creating an electric sense of theatre.

Guests mingled and shared their reactions. Some discussed how the technology could transform their practice operations, while others simply marvelled at the energy of the event. The three founders, now relaxed and visibly elated, moved through the room greeting guests and posing for photos beside the glowing Boxly logo.

For many, it was a rare opportunity to connect face to face with the innovators shaping dentistry’s digital future. For the Boxly team, it was a moment of well-earned pride: the culmination of years of development, testing and belief.

The night dentistry changed direction

As the evening drew to a close, it was clear that Unbox the Future had achieved something extraordinary. It brought the dental community together to witness not just the introduction of a new product but also offered a glimpse into the future of patient communication and care.

For some, it was the chance to be part of an exclusive, history-making event. For others, it was proof that AI and empathy can co-exist and that, when they do, remarkable things happen.

Boxly’s AI Receptionist has since been spoken about as a breakthrough for practices seeking to streamline operations and enhance patient experience. But for those who filled The Box Soho that night, the technology was only part of the story. What they will remember is the atmosphere, the passion and the unmistakable feeling that they were witnessing the start of something special.

As one guest put it afterwards, “It felt like more than a launch. It felt like a movement.”
